The Reach Plus At-Home Alarm is a comprehensive alarm unit, which has advanced features that can be used by customers with more complex needs. With the addition of a built-in, automatic, real-time clock, the unit can be used to monitor specific sensors within pre-determined time periods, as well as being used as a medication reminder.
The Reach Plus provides the user with the security and confidence to live independently for longer, by providing a reliable means to call for help in an emergency. It brings together the most sophisticated electronics with a cutting edge design and customer flexibility.
The Personal Touch Pendant, linked to the alarm unit, is worn on the person to allow an emergency alarm call to be made from anywhere in or around the home, simply by pressing the button once.
The device can also be set to play a reminder message at the same time every day, once a week or once a month. This is a great feature to remind the user to take their medication, eat their lunch, to take a wash or even to keep themselves warm. This can be recorded by a carer or relative.
The alarm unit can be combined with up to 32 environmental or personal wellbeing peripherals, to provide a bespoke care package to meet almost any person's individual care needs. No monthly service charge is required once you have purchased your equipment.

It's great that you have the same central unit for so many sensors. You can fit out a house for £500 or so with no service charge and add extra sensors as you like.

I like the fact that you can programme reminders eg for taking medicine in, personally I prefer that to a pillbox. Being able to call hands-free and answer just by pressing the pendant is a great feature too.

This is a very well thought-out and designed product that will appeal to all customers in need of generating an alert/alarm to be received by someone else, e.g. family member, friend, carer or monitoring centre (or a mixture of all these persons).

Design/ease of use
All aspects of the product are well presented in effective, sturdy packaging, with everything except the screw for attaching the Stand being easy to find (this is hidden in plain sight, being safely secured within the plastic moulding of the packaging).
The “User & Installation Guide” is really well designed with the DIY person in mind, as it is colour coded with the parts of the product, e.g. the mains cable connection has a blue dot on it that lines up with the blue colour on the alarm/receiving unit, which is described in the “User & Installation Guide” in the same colour.
Although it would be best to have this unit installed by a professional installer, especially if it is to be linked to a monitoring centre, without any prior experience I did have it set up and generating alerts to my mobile phone within 15 minutes. Therefore, the device is easy to install and intuitive; especially as once connected to the mains it tells you what you are doing wrong.
John has installed many of these devices himself and trained many others to do this and has always been impressed by the quality of the materials and their durability.

These functions make this a very impressive offering and one that is very scalable according to the needs of the individual, e.g. ability to accommodate up to 32 sensors.
During my attempts at installation, I was encouraged by the fact that I triggered a number of the built in alerts, such as the telephone line failure alert and the mains supply failure alert, which confirmed to me that they both work and are really annoying until you do something about them!
From the installers perspective, John had nothing but praise regarding the functional ability of the product, its reliability and general ease of use. The only criticism he had received from users was that the lights on the front of the device, that alert if there is a problem or highlight the red communication button, can at times be too bright at night and are not dimmable, although they can be programmed to be switched off.
Value for money
At its current price of £187.97 (excluding VAT) and a 24 month warranty, this product represents tremendous value for money (£0.26 per day over 24 months), especially as it is expected to last much longer than two years.
Installation would be an extra cost, but one highly recommended if a monitoring centre and or additional sensors are to be incorporated.
